A 1.5-hour in-person session for a master’s course “Derivative Securities”.

I was asked to speak about practical applications of derivatives in trading. The group acquired (thanks to the course itself) a decent fundamental understanding of how derivatives are priced. The professor approached me to intuitively explain how these concepts were used in trading houses.
We were able to maintain an interactive session covering:
-
The landscape of Financial Markets
-
The importance and position of Market Makers
-
Market Making dynamics
-
Derivatives trading in practice:
-
Market making options
-
Risks and Greeks
-
Position Management
-
Event Pricing
-

Given the solid theoretical background of all students, we were able to have a rather advanced discussion. It shows the importance of connections between academics and the practical field. I am grateful to the professors involved and keen to return any time.
